Tom Ford’s latest showing was set in a ballroom at the Four Seasons with guests seated on beautifully set circular dining tables. Given the setup, there was no front row, but that doesn’t mean it was short of star power. With movie stars like Tom Hanks, John Hamm, Olivia Wilde and, Jessica Beil packed in with musicians like Alicia Keys and Husband Swizz Beats, Rita Ora and Zayn Malik, the tables were definitely teeming with star power.
But the fashion elite wasn’t left out as models like Naomi Campbell, Iman and Cindy Crawford mingled with fashion bigwigs Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld and Giovanna Engelebert. New-age supermodels like Gigi Hadid, Binx Walton and Lineisy Montero displayed the house’s latest offerings and the show rounded off with a superb performance by Leon Bridges.
But the guestlist was not the only hot topic from last night, amongst all of that was a historical moment as Tom Ford rolled out the first collection under it’s ‘see now buy now’ approach.
Earlier this year Tom Ford announced it will be adopting the ‘See Now Buy Now’ approach with its FW16 collection and true to the brand’s promise items are now available for purchase on the Tom Ford website. It will be interesting to see how this will improve the brand’s bottom-line. Just think if it works, See Now Buy Now may soon be the only way for buyers to operate.
The collection was a pleasant mix of brown and grey hues mixed in with sequins and feathers. Ford showed a lot of leather jackets and fur coats. The collection also featured some straight-line evening gowns with dropped waist and feather accents. The outfits were rounded off with gold statement jewellery and big belts. Shrugging off yet another bit of tradition, Tom Ford threw in the men’s collection. Here are a few of our favourites from the Runway.
